Karen Thompson joins the staff at the Centre for Textile Conservation and Technical Art History
Karen Thompson joins the staff of the Centre for Textile Conservation and Technical Art History at the beginning of October. She will contribute to the teaching on the MPhil Textile Conservation programme, including the supervision of the second year students’ practical work.
Karen has been working as a textile conservator for 20 years and has held positions in a number of different conservation studios including the National Museums of Scotland and National Museum of Labour History. She worked in the Conservation Services department of the Textile Conservation Centre at the University of Southampton for 10 years, until its closure in 2009. At the TCC Karen managed several major conservation projects, including the conservation of original Victorian theatre scenery for Normansfield Theatre and several hundred pairs of shoes for Northampton Museums. Karen is also a qualified teacher and has been working in education for the past two years.
