TCC Graduate is shortlisted for Conservation Awards 2010

TCC graduate Sarah Owens has been shortlisted for one of the prestigious Conservation AwardsThe Student Conservator of the Year Award which is given to an exceptional project completed by a student during their training, illustrating best standard in conservation, collections care or research and innovation.  Sarah's conservation of an embroidered glove with an embroidered leather gauntlet, from Platt Hall, was considered to meet this exacting standard.  Sarah is one of three UK conservation students shortlisted for the award.

Following her graduation in October 2009, Sarah Owens secured an HLF Internship at the National Museums Scotland and the Scottish Conservation Studio.  Since completing the internship she has been employed on a short term contract by NMS.

TCC staff and students have had much success in the Conservation Awards over the years.  Past winners of the Student Conservator of the Year Award have included TCC graduates Kimberley Leath and Mamiko Matsumura.  FInal judging is taking place over the coming weeks and the winner will be announced at the Conservation Awards ceremony  at the Royal Institution on 1st December 2010.
