The total number of PhD students between 1999 and 2009 was 15, of whom 8 have completed their PhDs. Topics range from: the scientific investigation of materials and their deterioration (including silks, archaeological textiles, and polyurethane foams); comparative studies of conservation and museological practices in Western Europe and sub-Saharan Africa; archival and material sources for the study of the history of dress. The TCC's doctoral graduates have gone on to success, with some working in the UK and others in the USA (at the Getty Conservation Institute and Winterthur).
