The Textile Conservation Centre

Research Assessment Exercise 2008

The research of the Textile Conservation Centre's staff and other associated academics were submitted for assessment in the Research Assessment Exercise in 2008. This periodic review of university research in the UK was conducted jointly by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), the Scottish Funding Council, the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales and the Department for Employment and Learning, Northern Ireland.

The primary purpose of the RAE 2008 was to produce quality profiles for each submission of research activity made by institutions and to use these quality profiles to determine their grant for research to universities.

The TCC staff were submitted to 'unit of assessment' 64 - History of Art, Architecture and Design - as there is no unit of assessment specifically covering conservation.

The pdf below is the section of the submission that focussed on the research environment and esteem indicators (section 5a of the TCC's submission). The full TCC submission can be found on the RAE 2008 website , a downloadable copy is also attached here.
